A browser tab, bookmark and installed web app do not necessarily request the same resource. A small package names each role explicitly instead of pretending one raster is universally sufficient.
Browser icons stay small
The 16 and 32 pixel PNG files are explicit modern raster choices. The ICO groups 16, 32 and 48 pixel PNG payloads behind one legacy-compatible filename. FavBundle exposes every entry and byte count so a malformed directory cannot hide behind a successful download.
Touch and install icons are separate
The 180 pixel Apple touch file and 192/512 manifest icons serve larger contexts. They are rendered independently from the source rather than enlarged from the 16 pixel output. The manifest is starter metadata: its name, scope, start URL, display and colours still require project review.
Verify in the destination
Place the files at the paths named by the snippet, serve the manifest with an appropriate content type, clear favicon caches, and inspect real browser tabs, bookmarks and install surfaces. Keep the source artwork and compare small edges, contrast and crop. A structurally valid package proves its own bytes and names, not that every browser or operating system will choose the same asset or display it identically.
